Hey foodies… Welcome back again to our blog tasty fry. I am back again with (Shahi paneer) The Royal Dish of India.
Shahi means (Royal) and paneer(Cottage cheese), This is almost every Indian’s favorite dish which you will hear from everyone. You must have eaten Shahi paneer a lot of times at restaurant, but today I will guide you how you can make it yourself at home. Believe me if you learn to make it at home, then you will never go to eat at a dhaba(Restaurant). I made this for the first time 2 years ago. You wouldn’t believe that this dish was so tasty that my family loved it so much that. Since then I have been cooking it for them at home all the time.
What is Shahi Paneer?
Shahi Paneer originates from North India and is a creamy dish made from cubed paneer(cottage cheese), This dish is cooked in a mild rich gravy with aromatic spices like cardamom and cinnamon. You will find this dish in every Indian wedding. The gravy is rich, thickened with cashews, curd, and cream for a luscious, slightly sweet texture.
How to make Shahi Paneer
Preparation
Put a pan on medium flame and add ghee or butter in it.

Then add paneer cubes in a pan and fry the cubes till golden brown. (If you don’t want to fry paneer then you can skip this step because it’s optional). Now we will remove paneer cubes from the oil or butter and keep it aside.

Make the Gravy
In the same pan, heat ghee or butter and then add bay leaf, cinnamon stick, cloves, and green cardamoms. Now Sauté for one minute, or until fragrant. Then add the finely chopped onions and sauté them until golden brown. Now add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute. After tempering, place cashew paste in a pan and cook for 2-3 minutes.

In a bowl, whisk the yogurt until smooth. Then add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder into the yogurt, and mix it well. Now add the yogurt mixture to the pan and continue cooking for 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously until the oil begins to separate.

After oil separate, add milk and cook for another 5 minutes at low flame. Then add fried paneer cubes and salt to taste. Now simmer for another 5 minutes for enhancing paneer’s flavor with gravy. And Finally, add the cream and garam masala. Stir for another minute and turn the gas flame off. Your delicious Shahi Paneer recipe ready.

Serve
Now serve this Hot delicious dish in a plate with your choice of Bread like Naan, Roti and Rice Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

2 tomatoes (make puree)
10-12 cashew nuts (soaked and ground into a paste)
1/2 cup fresh cream
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tbsp yogurt (optional)
Salt to taste
1 tbsp honey or sugar (optional, for a mild sweetness)
1/2 cup water (as needed)
2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves for garnis
Directions
