Hello foodies… Welcome back, I’m glad you’re here again with Veg momos recipe… Whenever I go to the market to eat street food, the first thought that comes to my mind is to about momos. Not only Me but everyone would have this thought in their mind whenever they think about fast food.

Momos are a popular street food in india, you can make it at easily at home. Momos(dumplings) stuffed with spicy vegetable fillings will simply melt in your mouth. Today i will guide you to make tasty momos recipe to make at home.

About Momos

Momos are originated from tibet later it was famous among indians as it became favorite snack food in india and other asian countries. These tasty dumplings are filled with veggies, spices, and can be steamed or fried.

Like, Fried momos, Steamed momos, Tandoori momos, Chicken momos, Vegetable momos, kurkure momos and etc. Also these dumplings are different tastes and fillings with different methods of making. I will guide you to make moms at home and you will find to making veg momos at home is easy and fun!

How to make Veg momos

Preparation

First Combine flour, salt, and oil in a bowl and then make a soft dough by add water as needed, just like a pratha dough. cover the bowl and keep aside for 15 to 20 minutes. Now Let’s Jump to the next step:

Make Filling

Heat a pan in oil then add garlic and saute for 30 seconds. Then add white part of spring onion and saute for a minute on high heat. Now, put in chopped vegetables and sugar and stir-fry at a very high flame for a minute. Then add salt, pepper, soy sauce, and mix very well. Finally, add chopped green part of spring onion and mix for a minute on medium flame. Switch off and keep aside.

Roll the dough into a big disc and use a big lid for making smaller discs. After that, again roll to make it thinner. Now put prepared vegetables in the centre. Then fold them into momo shapes. Oops.. It is going to be very tough task for beginners(Kidding). Try it you can make it.

Cooking

Now steam these momos in the steamer, for 8 minutes. Arrange Veg Momos with space around them. Heat 1-2 glasses of water in a steamer or deep vessel over medium flame. Place the momos plate on the stand in the steamer, ensuring it doesn’t touch the water. Cover and steam for 6-7 minutes until they are translucent and shiny. Check for doneness by ensuring they aren’t sticky.

Serving

Put tasty and yummy looking veg momos into serving plate. Serve hot Veg Momos with mayonnaise or Schezwan Sauce.

Ingredients

  • For the dough:
    1 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
    half tsp salt
    Water(as needed)
    1 tsp oil
    For the filling:
    1 tbsp oil
    1 tsp ginger(finely chopped)
    1 tsp garlic(finely chopped)
    ½ cup onion(finely chopped)
    ½ cup cabbage(finely chopped)
    ½ cup carrot(finely chopped)
    ¼ cup capsicum (bell pepper)(finely chopped)
    2 tbsp spring onions(finely chopped)
    1 tsp soy sauce
    ½ tsp black pepper powder
    Salt, to taste

Directions

  • Making the Dough:
    Mix flour and salt in a bowl.
    Gradually add water and knead to form a soft dough.
    Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • Making the Filling:
    Heat oil in a frying pan, add chopped ginger and garlic, and sauté them.
    Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
    Add the sliced cabbage, grated carrot, and capsicum, and cook for a few minutes over low heat.
    Add soy sauce, vinegar, salt, and pepper, and stir well. Let cool.
  • Assembly of the Momos:
    Take portions of dough and make small balls. Roll them into thin rounds.
    Take a spoon of filling and place it in the center of each round.
    Fold the edges and make pleats to properly seal the momos.
  • Cooking Momos:
    Steaming Method:
    Layer the momos in a greased steamer and steam them for 10-12 minutes.
    Frying Method: Heat oil in a pan and deep-fry the momos until golden brown.
    Pan Fried: Heat some oil in a pan, add steamed momos, and fry until crisp.
  • Presentation:
    Serve hot with spicy red chutney, tomato sauce or mayonnaise.
