Ingredients for Tomato and Basil Pasta
Now let’s gathering all the ingredients. Firstly we need 250g of pasta (spaghetti, penne, or your choice), two tablespoon of olive oil, 3 to 4 garlic cloves which are minced, 2-3 large ripe tomatoes, chopped (or use a can of diced tomatoes), and a handful of fresh basil leaves, salt and pepper to taste, and you can also use grated Parmesan cheese (optional).

Cook the Pasta
Alright! After gathering all the ingredients now it’s time to cook the pasta. First of all bring a pot, add water and a pinch of salt, now boil it. Once it’s bubbling away, add the pasta in it and cook it according to the package instructions usually about 8 to 10 minutes for that perfect al dente texture. And also don’t forget to stir occasionally so it doesn’t stick together. Now after that jump to next step.

Prepare the Sauce
While the pasta is cooking, let’s make our sauce. Firstly take a large skillet, and add two tablespoons of olive oil in it over medium heat. Now add the minced garlic and saute it for about 30 seconds, just until it’s fragrant. Be careful not to let it burn! Next now add your diced or canned tomatoes. If you’re using canned ones, give them a little crush with your spoon to release their juices. Now add salt, pepper, and a pinch of chili flakes if you want a bit of kick. Let this simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. When it is thickened and smells amazing it means it’s done. then go to next step.

Combining Everything
Finally we reach here to combining everything. Now that our sauce is ready, it’s time to bring everything together. Now add cooked pasta in the skillet and well mix with the sauce. Gently toss it so the pasta is beautifully coasted with that luscious tomato sauce. If the sauce feels a bit thick, here’s where that reserved pasta water comes to the rescue. Also add a little at a time until you get the perfect consistency. Finally, stir in the basil. This is what gives our pasta its vibrant and aromatic flavor.

Last but not least we got a very delicious home made tomato and basil pasta ready to serve. For the final touch, garnish with a few whole basil leaves and a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
